After careful consideration,
Dr. Dunlap, a graduate of CSU’s Master of Public Administration program, decided that his most productive prospects would come out of the Department of Criminal Justice with sophomore, Victoria Thames and the Department of Communications with senior, Cierra Brown. This summer internship opportunity provided by The PRF Institute was established in 2016 to assist interns in developing professional skills and gain real-world experience. As the Research Coordinator for The PRF Institute, some of Thames’ research has already been presented to state and local officials within the Georgia Department of Corrections for upcoming Pre-Release Initiatives. In a recentinterview, Thames said, “I’m grateful for the opportunity that PRF and Dr. Dunlap has provided for me thus far and look forward to the other opportunities that are to come”.As the Assistant Communications Director, Brown is tasked with the responsibility of managing the public perception of The PRF Institute, which includes its social media platforms and website development. Now understanding the goals of The PRF Institute, Brown has already developed tools to increase the organization’s following and to create an aesthetically sound image across new and existing social media platforms. “With a public relations concentration, I am excited for the opportunity that Dr.Dunlap has provided me. I really get a feel of what it is like to handle the public relations for an actual company”, said Brown in a recent interview.Columbus State University has an extensive list of intern/extern opportunities for students. Brown will graduate in December and Thames will begin her junior year in Fall 2018.
